Here is another scam letter sent to us from out on the Web. The care provider who forwarded this did not say how or through what online service this scammer contacted her.
Hello,
My name is Dr. Makanaki I have a little daughter, Carol. She is just turned 3 yrs old on Dec. 31st. she’s quite the handful. She has been off of the bottle for a year now, so she drinks from a snippy cup. She eats all normal foods. She is not potty trained yet, but I’m going to start that soon. I am looking for experienced nanny to be looking after her from Monday to Friday.
I live at Florida and I wouldn’t mind driving her down to your place Everyday (9 am) and also pick him up myself at evening 7pm I would be willing to pay $10/hour (From 9am to 7pm is 10hrs, that means the amount per day is $100) if there was light house work included. References and experience are a plus!
Presently, I and my Wife are not in the state, we went on vacation since last year December, so we will be arriving back to the state next week. I also need your assistances; I will like to pay you in-advance for 1 week which is $500.
I will contact my Boss to issue a Check in your name and send it to you, the amount that will be issued and send is $2,750. It’s my Bonus for the new contract that was won by my Boss. But the check is going to be U.S Check, which takes a long time to cash here in London . so I will like you to accept it, deduct $500 for advance Deposit for your service, and send the remaining balance to me or my Traveling Agent, because its for my Flight ticket and Bills.
I will need your Full Details to issue the payment, such as:
FULL NAME:
ADDRESS:
CITY:
STATE:
ZIP CODE:
TELEPHONE:
CELL PHONE:
Immediately you forward the payment details, I will call you and I will send your Full name and address to my Boss and he will issue the check and send it to you, which means you will receive the check latest by next week.
Here is the picture of my family. Carol , My wife (Mary) and I.
Thanks.

More Tips on Avoiding scams and fraud

Never wire funds via Western Union, Moneygram or any other wire service — anyone who asks you to do so is a scammer.
Fake cashier checks and money orders are common, and banks will cash them and then hold you responsible when the fake is discovered weeks later.
Never give out financial information (bank account number, social security number, eBay/ PayPal info, etc.).
Avoid deals involving shipping or escrow services. Only a scammer will “guarantee” your transaction.

Here are some agencies you can notify about fraud or scam attempts:

If you suspect that an ad posted on NannyClassifieds.com is a scam, email the Ad # to scam@nannyClassifieds.com.  If you recieve scam emails through other online venues, we will post this information as well, just email us a copy of the email you received.

Mike Holmes using la_holmes112@yahoo.com

Please see an email sent today to a nanny.  This is the same scam artist, different email address.  He’s also made a claim to one other nanny that he has spoken with the Administrator of NannyClassifieds and that we say he’s the real deal.  This is a lie.  He is most definitely a scam artist.

Where are you located? I am from Florida. I would love to meet up with you to talk about this job but I am currently away on business. I am in Australia so there will be no interview. I will prepay you in advance to do my shopping. I will also have my mails and packages forwarded to your address. If you will be unable to stay at your house to get my mails, I can have it shipped to a post office near you and then you can pick it up at your convenience. When you get my mails/packages, you are required to mail them to where I want them mailed to. You don’t have to put money out of your pocket all you have to do is have packages shipped to your house and do my shopping. You are allowed to open up the packages to reveal its content. The content of the packages are computer and electronics and clothings. All expenses and taxes will be covered by me. You will work between 15 and 20hrs a month. How much will you charge per month? I will pay $250. That is not a bad offer is it? I need your service because I am constantly out of town. I work in real estate and I own a computer store in Australia. I will return to America in February so this process will be ongoing till then.Write back soon.Michael Baldwin
